Fuuun Wanage Bastard

Fuuun Wanage Bastard was created by the provocative manga artist Kobayashi Yoshinori, primarily known for his later Gomanism Manifesto series. Published in the early 1980s, the work reflects the intense, high-energy storytelling style prevalent in the gag manga scene of the era, which often prioritized irreverent humor, chaotic action, and social satire. It emerged during a period when manga publishers were rapidly experimenting with absurdist themes to capture the attention of a youth demographic increasingly drawn to unconventional and edgy narratives.

The series is noted for its character-driven slapstick and the distinctively bold, expressive linework that defined much of Kobayashi’s early career before he shifted his focus toward political commentary. While it remains a niche title compared to his later, more controversial works, it serves as an interesting artifact of his formative years. Critics generally view the work as a product of its time, capturing the playful and rebellious spirit of 1980s Japanese manga culture rather than the ideological intensity for which the author later became famous.
