Ganbarisugi Jigoku kara Dasshutsu Shimashita Repo

Published in 2020, this autobiographical work serves as a follow-up to Nagata Kabi's critically acclaimed debut, My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness. The narrative continues Nagata's candid exploration of her mental health struggles, family dynamics, and the complexities of finding professional and personal stability after the success of her earlier publications. It emerges from the contemporary trend of 'essay manga,' a genre where artists chronicle their inner lives with raw, unfiltered honesty.

The book features Nagata's signature loose, expressive art style, which serves as a visual manifestation of her internal state during the creative process. Her approach is characterized by a lack of traditional panel polish, prioritizing emotional authenticity over technical perfection. Upon release, the series was received as a poignant, if difficult, meditation on the cycles of burnout and the challenges of self-care, resonating with readers who value the vulnerable, diaristic nature of her storytelling.
