God of Wine

God of Wine, known in Chinese as Jiu Shen, is a fantasy web novel authored by Tang Jia San Shao, one of the most prolific and commercially successful writers in the Chinese web literature scene. Originally serialized online in the late 2000s, the story follows the life of a master bartender who is reincarnated into a magical world, blending themes of mixology with high-fantasy cultivation tropes. The work emerged during a period of rapid expansion for the Qidian Chinese Network, reflecting the platform's focus on immersive, long-form genre fiction designed to keep readers engaged through frequent updates.

The narrative design reflects the author's signature style, which often emphasizes protagonists who develop unique skills to gain power within competitive hierarchies. While Tang Jia San Shao is best known for his massive Douluo Dalu franchise, God of Wine serves as a representative example of his earlier experimental period, where he combined specialized knowledge—in this case, cocktail making—with traditional xianxia elements. The series was well-received by his core audience for its world-building and has since seen various adaptations, including manhua versions, which helped solidify its place in the broader ecosystem of his literary portfolio.
