Where it came from
Gomix is an experimental manga series authored by Hoshikawa Hachi, emerging from the niche alternative manga scene in Japan. It is recognized for its unique visual approach, which often prioritizes abstract, kinetic paneling and surrealistic character designs over traditional narrative structures, reflecting the creator's focus on atmosphere and emotional resonance rather than conventional storytelling.
The series represents a distinct period in Hoshikawa Hachi's career, where the work was intentionally crafted to challenge the boundaries of the medium. Received primarily within underground and artistic circles, Gomix gained a reputation for being an acquired taste, appreciated by readers who favor minimalist dialogue and evocative, gritty line work that defines the aesthetic of this particular anthology-style collection.
