Goong [Colored Edition]

Goong, also known as Princess Hours, was originally serialized by Park So-hee starting in 2002. Set in an alternate history where Korea maintains its monarchy into the 21st century, the series became a cornerstone of the manhwa boom of the early 2000s. The Colored Edition was developed to revitalize the series for modern readers, utilizing digital coloring techniques to enhance the intricate details of Park's fashion-forward character designs and palace aesthetics.

Park So-hee designed the series to blend the rigid traditions of the royal court with the relatable, turbulent emotions of high school romance. The transition to a full-color format was well-received by fans of the original work, as it highlighted the lush, period-inspired costumes and ornamental backgrounds that serve as a visual hallmark of the series. The aesthetic approach prioritizes a vibrant, soft palette that softens the narrative tension between the duty-bound protagonist Shin and the spirited Chae-kyung.
