Where it came from
Graineliers was authored and illustrated by the celebrated manga artist Takarai Rihito, known for her delicate, expressive linework and intricate world-building. Serialized in the magazine G Fantasy starting in 2016, the series represents a departure into the fantasy adventure genre, focusing on a world where the seeds of plants hold magical properties that dictate the lives of those who cultivate them.
The design of the series reflects Takarai’s signature aesthetic, blending detailed character silhouettes with a whimsical, often melancholic atmosphere. The narrative follows two brothers, Lucas and Abel, who operate as graineliers, tasked with handling these powerful seeds. Upon its release, the series was received as a thoughtfully crafted expansion of Takarai's portfolio, lauded for its unique premise and the atmospheric quality of its panel layouts.
