Gwihwanjaui Mabeobeun Teukbyeolhaeya Hamnida

Gwihwanjaui Mabeobeun Teukbyeolhaeya Hamnida, known internationally as A Returner's Magic Should Be Special, originated as a web novel written by the author Usonan. First serialized on the South Korean platform KakaoPage in 2016, the story became a prominent example of the 'regression' subgenre within web-based fantasy literature. It depicts the journey of Desir Arman, a protagonist transported back in time to his school days, tasking him with preventing the catastrophic collapse of his world by mastering magic under new circumstances.

The narrative was subsequently adapted into a highly successful webtoon illustrated by Wookjakga, which debuted in 2018. This visual iteration helped solidify the series' status as a staple of contemporary Korean digital comics, characterized by its detailed depictions of tactical magic combat and character-driven progression. The work's design philosophy prioritizes a balance between classic high-fantasy tropes and modern, fast-paced storytelling, a fusion that contributed to its popularity and eventual adaptation into an animated television series.
