Haikyu!!, Vol. 2: The View From The Top

Haikyu!! Volume 2, titled The View From The Top, was released by VIZ Media as part of their English-language translation of Haruichi Furudate’s celebrated sports manga. Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump starting in 2012, the series emerged during a period of renewed interest in the sports genre, distinguishing itself through its emphasis on realistic tactical progression and the psychological depth of its ensemble cast. This volume specifically follows the protagonist Shoyo Hinata as he begins his journey at Karasuno High School, establishing the foundational team dynamics that would define the series.

The cover design and internal character illustrations are the work of Furudate, who prioritized a kinetic, high-energy aesthetic to mirror the fast-paced nature of volleyball. The artistic style is noted for its ability to convey movement through exaggerated proportions and sharp linework, effectively grounding the heightened athleticism of the characters in a relatable school setting. Upon its release, the volume—and the series at large—was widely praised by critics for its balance of lighthearted humor and high-stakes character development, cementing its place as a staple of contemporary manga.
