Hana no Zubora Meshi

Hana no Zubora Meshi, or 'Hana's Sloppy Meals,' began serialization in 2009 in the josei manga magazine Elegance Eve. Written by Masayuki Qusumi and illustrated by Etsuko Mizusawa, the series centers on Hana Komazawa, a housewife living alone while her husband works away. The narrative focuses on her penchant for creating simple, often unconventional, and admittedly 'lazy' meals, offering a relatable look at domestic life that eschews the perfection often seen in culinary media.

The series is celebrated for Mizusawa’s warm, inviting art style which emphasizes the comforting, tactile nature of comfort food. By depicting the protagonist's honest struggles with household chores and meal planning, the work resonated deeply with readers who appreciated its grounded perspective on self-care and mundane daily habits. It was well-received for its gentle humor and was subsequently adapted into a live-action television drama in 2012, further cementing its place in the genre of culinary slice-of-life manga.
