Where it came from
Hanabi-chan wa Okuregachi began as a manga series written and illustrated by Shirogane Lamp, centered on the personified incarnations of classic Universal Entertainment slot machines. The series serves as a whimsical anthropomorphic tribute to the pachislot industry, specifically highlighting the iconic Hanabi machine brand, which has long been a staple in Japanese gaming halls for its traditional gameplay and recognizable design motifs.
The character designs draw inspiration from the aesthetic hallmarks of the slot machines they represent, translating mechanical elements like reels and symbols into the attire and personalities of the protagonists. Following its initial serialization, the franchise expanded into a multimedia project, including an anime adaptation, aimed at both dedicated pachislot enthusiasts and fans of lighthearted, character-driven comedy series.
