Heroman

Heroman was conceived through a unique cross-cultural collaboration between American comic book legend Stan Lee and the Japanese animation studio Bones. The project emerged from Lee's long-standing interest in the anime medium and his desire to blend traditional American superhero tropes with the stylistic sensibilities of manga. The resulting series focuses on Joey Jones, a young boy who discovers a toy robot that evolves into a powerful hero after being struck by mysterious lightning.

The manga adaptation was illustrated by Tamaoki Country, who brought a sleek, kinetic energy to the character designs. While the series maintains the archetypal 'boy and his robot' narrative structure common in shonen manga, it is distinct for its intentional fusion of Lee's signature optimism and character-driven drama with the technical polish of contemporary Japanese action storytelling.
