Howl's Moving Castle - My Heart (Doujinshi)

This doujinshi, titled My Heart, is a fan-made publication created by the manga artist Nekota Yonezou. It emerged from the vibrant Japanese doujin subculture, where creators produce unofficial works centered on popular media—in this case, Hayao Miyazaki’s 2004 film Howl's Moving Castle. Nekota, known for a distinctively expressive and romantic style in the boys' love manga genre, reinterprets the central characters of the film through a personal, creative lens that diverges from the original Studio Ghibli narrative while maintaining the aesthetic charm of the source material.

The publication was crafted for distribution at fan events like Comiket, where independent artists showcase their labor-intensive works to dedicated enthusiast communities. As a doujinshi, it represents an intimate side of fan engagement, prioritizing character-driven vignettes and stylistic experimentation over commercial production. The work is widely regarded by collectors of Nekota’s bibliography as a notable example of the artist's ability to transition their signature visual language into the whimsical, fantasy-steampunk atmosphere established by Diana Wynne Jones and adapted by Ghibli.
