I Just Want to Disappear

I Just Want to Disappear is a contemporary manga work created by the artist known as Slothful Thought. Emerging from the introspective and often melancholy landscape of modern indie manga, the volume serves as a thematic exploration of social alienation, burnout, and the desire for temporary erasure from the pressures of daily life. The author utilizes a minimalist aesthetic, relying on stark, moody line work to emphasize the internal isolation experienced by the protagonist.

The design of the work reflects a conscious departure from traditional high-energy shonen or rom-com tropes, aiming instead for a deliberate, slow-paced narrative rhythm. By prioritizing atmospheric panels over dense dialogue, Slothful Thought sought to create a meditative reading experience. Upon its release, the volume was noted by small-press critics for its raw sincerity and its resonance with readers who gravitate toward slice-of-life stories that tackle existential fatigue with quiet, unflinching honesty.
