Where it came from
Originally serialized on the Japanese web manga platform Pixiv, this title emerged from the vibrant culture of short-form web manga that gained significant traction in the late 2010s. The series is authored by Kotatsu, a creator known for their focus on lighthearted, trope-driven romantic comedy scenarios that emphasize the contrast between a character's public persona and their private vulnerabilities.
The narrative follows the common romantic comedy framework of the 'ice queen' archetype, subverting the expectation of a cold and untouchable high school student by revealing her secret, clumsy romantic efforts. The design and visual storytelling lean heavily into expressive character reactions and minimalist background work, common traits for series intended to be consumed quickly in a digital, mobile-first format. It was eventually compiled into tankōbon volumes to satisfy the demand from fans of the genre.
