Where it came from
I Wanted to Be Good is a manhua series created by the artist Na Yoo Hye. It emerged from the growing international interest in serialized digital comics, characterized by its exploration of complex interpersonal dynamics and emotional turmoil. The series was designed to delve into the psychological landscape of its protagonist, utilizing a distinct visual style that balances sharp character expressions with a somber, reflective atmosphere to mirror the narrative's internal conflicts.
The work has been recognized for its thematic focus on identity and the pressures of societal expectation, which resonated with readers familiar with contemporary drama-focused comics. While the series functions as a standalone piece of narrative art, it is widely considered representative of Na Yoo Hye's broader body of work, which often prioritizes character-driven storytelling over high-concept fantasy, earning the series a dedicated following among fans of the genre.
