Ijimeru Aitsu ga Warui no ka, Ijimerareta Boku ga Warui no ka?

Released in the early 2000s, this manga volume by Kimizuka Chikara emerged from the Japanese social discourse surrounding the systemic and psychological impacts of bullying in schools. The work is noted for its blunt, confrontational title, which challenges the reader to assign moral culpability in cases of chronic harassment. It reflects a trend in period manga where creators utilized the medium to explore darker, more realistic depictions of social alienation rather than idealized school life.

The illustrative style is minimalist and grounded, prioritizing the emotional interiority of the characters over elaborate backgrounds. While the series did not achieve mainstream commercial dominance, it garnered attention for its uncomfortable subject matter and its role in sparking dialogue about the failure of adult authorities to intervene in student disputes. Critics often highlight the author's intent to remove the romanticized veneer often found in teen dramas, presenting a stark assessment of how isolation shapes personal development.
