Ikoku Meiro no Croisée

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée, or Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth, was serialized in Fujimi Shobo's Monthly Dragon Age magazine starting in 2006. Created by the late artist Takeda Hinata, the series was conceived as a historical slice-of-life narrative set in late 19th-century Paris. Takeda meticulously researched the period, aiming to capture the atmospheric contrast between the bustling iron-and-glass arcades of the era and the quiet, traditional sensibilities of a young Japanese girl navigating a new culture.

The manga is widely regarded for its delicate, painterly art style and quiet, contemplative pacing. Takeda’s work was praised for its emotional depth and architectural detail, which successfully rendered the setting of the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert as a central character in its own right. Although the series remained unfinished following Takeda's passing, it maintains a dedicated following for its gentle exploration of cultural exchange and personal growth.
