I'll Set Things Right. Former Gangster Turned Lawyer Itsuki Touya

I'll Set Things Right. Former Gangster Turned Lawyer Itsuki Touya is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tsuki Saejima. It emerged from a growing trend in seinen and josei manga that explores the redemptive arcs of characters transitioning from organized crime into the complexities of the legal profession. Saejima utilizes the tropes of the yakuza genre to contrast the brutal, rigid structures of the underworld with the bureaucratic, often frustrating nuances of the Japanese courtroom.

The design of the series centers on the visual juxtaposition between Itsuki Touya’s past life as a gang enforcer and his new role as a defense attorney. Saejima’s illustrative style emphasizes detailed character expressions to highlight Touya's internal struggle for moral legitimacy while navigating a legal system that remains skeptical of his background. The series has been recognized by readers for its grounded approach to legal procedure, favoring character-driven development over sensationalized action sequences.
