Investigation of the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy: Hearings Before the President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy

Following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963, President Lyndon B. Johnson established the President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy, commonly known as the Warren Commission. These hearings were compiled and published in 1964 as part of the official investigative record intended to provide a comprehensive public accounting of the events in Dallas. The primary goal of the Commission was to evaluate all available evidence and testimony to determine the facts surrounding the tragedy, resulting in a twenty-six-volume set of documents.

The design and production of this massive record were handled by the United States Government Printing Office. The volumes were intended to be an objective, exhaustive archive for researchers and the public, encompassing thousands of pages of testimonies from eyewitnesses, medical experts, and intelligence officials. While the Commission's final report was meant to settle the matter, the publication of these exhaustive hearings paradoxically fueled decades of public debate and scholarly scrutiny regarding the Commission's methodology and conclusions.
