Where it came from
Isekai Tenseisha Koroshi – Cheat Slayer was created by writer Homura Kawamoto, known for his work on Kakegurui, and illustrated by Aki Yamaguchi. It was launched in June 2021 within the pages of Monthly Dragon Age, conceived as a dark satirical take on the popular isekai genre, specifically targeting the 'cheat' trope where protagonists are granted overwhelming, god-like powers upon reincarnation.
The series followed a protagonist named Lute, who sought to hunt down and kill these overpowered reincarnated heroes. However, the project was cancelled almost immediately after the release of its first chapter. The editorial department at Fujimi Shobo pulled the series following significant public backlash, as readers identified strong visual and thematic parallels between the story's antagonists and established characters from other popular isekai franchises.
