Jenaer Literaturzeitung, im Auftrag der Universität Jena herausg. von A. Klette. Jahr

The Jenaer Literaturzeitung was established in the mid-19th century as a scholarly publication commissioned by the University of Jena. It emerged during a period of rigorous academic expansion in German universities, functioning as a critical review organ to document and critique the flourishing literary and philosophical landscape of the time. The publication sought to bridge the gap between burgeoning academic research and the wider cultural discourse, reflecting the university's historical commitment to classical education and intellectual inquiry.

The editorial direction under A. Klette focused on maintaining a high standard of critical evaluation, providing detailed analyses of contemporary works. Designed for a scholarly audience, the layout and typography were typical of the austere, formal aesthetic favored by German academic journals of the era. The reception was largely positive among academic circles, establishing the journal as a serious repository of the intellectual output emerging from the university's orbit during the 1870s.
