Jitsu wa Ore, Saikyou deshita?

Jitsu wa Ore, Saikyou deshita?, known in English as Am I Actually the Strongest?, began as a web novel series written by Sumimori Sai, serialized on the user-generated publishing site Shōsetsuka ni Narō starting in 2018. The narrative follows Haruto Zenfis, a man reincarnated into another world as a newborn prince who is mistakenly abandoned due to his perceived lack of magical power. The story explores the tropes of the isekai genre with a focus on comedy and the contrast between the protagonist's actual immense power and the world's misunderstanding of his capabilities.

Following its success as a web novel, the series was acquired by Kodansha, which began publishing a light novel version with illustrations by Ai Takahashi in 2019. Shortly thereafter, a manga adaptation illustrated by Takahashi was launched in the magazine Suiyōbi no Sirius. The aesthetic of the series leans into lighthearted fantasy designs, characterized by expressive character work and a clear, readable visual style that aims to emphasize the protagonist's nonchalant mastery of his surroundings. It has been received as a recognizable entry in the modern isekai canon, leading to an anime adaptation in 2023.
