Joukamachi no Dandelion

Joukamachi no Dandelion, or Castle Town Dandelion, began as a four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Ayumu Kasuga. First serialized in Manga Time Kirara Miracle! in 2012, the series explores the lives of the nine royal Sakurada siblings, each possessing a unique superpower, as they live under constant surveillance by hundreds of security cameras. The premise blends lighthearted slice-of-life comedy with the unusual logistical challenge of a royal family attempting to maintain a semblance of normal adolescence while being broadcast to the public.

The character designs and narrative structure draw heavily from the 'moe' aesthetic common in seinen manga magazines of the era, focusing on expressive, distinct personalities for each sibling. Kasuga’s approach emphasizes the individual struggles of the protagonists, particularly Akane, the shy protagonist who fears the public spotlight. Upon its release, the work was well-received for its gentle humor and the clever integration of superpowers into everyday family dynamics, eventually leading to a 12-episode anime adaptation produced by studio Production IMS in 2015.
