Where it came from
Justice Part 1: Welcome to New Timbuktu is an independent graphic novel project developed by Klutch Comics. Emerging from the modern landscape of independent webcomics and self-published sequential art, the work is designed to explore Afro-futuristic themes and speculative narratives. The creative team aimed to blend traditional comic book aesthetics with a distinct cultural perspective, focusing on world-building and character-driven storytelling within a reimagined urban environment.
The publication was received as a contribution to the growing movement of independent creators utilizing crowdfunding and digital platforms to bypass traditional publishing gatekeepers. The design emphasizes a stylized visual identity intended to distinguish the series within the competitive landscape of indie comics, relying on a unique color palette and character design language to establish the atmosphere of New Timbuktu for its readership.
