Kanojo, Okarishimasu

Kanojo, Okarishimasu, also known as Rent-a-Girlfriend, began serialization in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in July 2017. Created by mangaka Miyajima Reiji, the series emerged during a period of rising interest in rom-com manga featuring complex, morally grey protagonists and the modern gig economy. The story follows Kazuya Kinoshita, a college student who rents a girlfriend after a difficult breakup, setting off a chain of events involving a professional rental girlfriend named Chizuru Mizuhara.

Miyajima Reiji designed the series to explore the intersection of genuine human emotion and transactional relationships. His art style, characterized by detailed character expressions and dynamic layouts, was intended to heighten the emotional stakes of the romantic comedy genre.
