Where it came from
This volume is a work of fan-created fiction, or doujinshi, based on the global phenomenon Kimetsu no Yaiba, known in English as Demon Slayer. Created by the circle operating under the name Kenji Yaiba, this publication explores character-driven narratives focused on the beloved Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku. Such works typically emerge from the robust Japanese independent publishing culture surrounding popular manga series, serving as a platform for fans to expand upon canon moments or provide emotional closure for characters within the franchise.
The design and artistic direction of this volume follow the aesthetic conventions of established shonen manga while incorporating the distinct stylistic flourishes favored by independent artists. By focusing on a 'small promise,' the work aims to deepen the audience's emotional connection to the brief but impactful arc of Rengoku. Its reception is primarily localized within the dedicated fan community that frequents events like Comiket, where such pieces are circulated to celebrate and critically engage with the themes of loyalty and legacy present in the original work.
