Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen

Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen, often abbreviated as Kimisen, originated as a light novel series written by Kei Sazane and illustrated by Ao Nekonabe. First published by Fujimi Fantasia Bunko in 2017, the series was conceived as a romantic fantasy set in a world divided by a long-standing war between a technologically advanced empire and a nation of powerful mages. The narrative follows the unlikely bond between an imperial swordsman and an ice princess from the opposing faction, leaning into tropes of star-crossed lovers amidst geopolitical conflict.

The aesthetic of the series is heavily defined by Nekonabe’s character designs, which emphasize a high-contrast visual style meant to distinguish the futuristic motifs of the empire from the ethereal, magical elements of the Nebulis Sovereignty. The work was generally well-received within the light novel community for its earnest approach to the fantasy-romance genre, eventually leading to its adaptation into a manga series by Okama and an anime series by Silver Link, cementing its status as a staple of contemporary Japanese light literature.
