Where it came from
Kimi wa Itsushika Doku ni Naru, translated as 'You Will Eventually Become Poison,' is a manga series written and illustrated by Asaga Iori. Serialized in the Japanese magazine Gateau, the work emerged within the contemporary boys' love landscape, focusing on nuanced psychological dynamics and the shifting boundaries between mentorship and obsession. The narrative centers on a university student who becomes entangled with his professor, exploring themes of manipulation and vulnerability that define the dark-romance subgenre.
The aesthetic of the series is characterized by Asaga Iori's expressive character designs and careful use of shadows to underscore the series' titular 'poisonous' atmosphere. Upon its release, the volume was noted for its departure from standard genre tropes, receiving critical attention for its intricate pacing and the artist's ability to maintain tension through dialogue-heavy panels. It has since become a recognized title among enthusiasts of psychological manga for its atmospheric storytelling and detailed art style.
