Kodomo no Omocha, often shortened to Kodocha, was serialized in the shojo magazine Ribon between 1994 and 1998. Created by Miho Obana, the series emerged during a period when shojo manga was beginning to tackle more complex, contemporary social issues alongside traditional romance. The narrative follows Sana Kurata, a high-energy child actress, as she navigates the complexities of her family life, school environment, and the emotional struggles of her peers.

By addressing topics like bullying, family dysfunction, and the pressures of celebrity, the work garnered significant critical attention for its depth.
