Koi Crazy

Koi Crazy was written by Peter Waddington and published in 1995 as a definitive resource for the growing international community of koi enthusiasts. Emerging during a period when the hobby was rapidly expanding from its traditional roots in Japan to a global pursuit, the book was conceived to demystify the complex standards of koi selection and health management. It served as a bridge for hobbyists who were becoming increasingly sophisticated in their understanding of the fish and the specialized environments required to sustain them.

The design of the volume focuses on instructional clarity, featuring detailed photographs and diagrams that prioritize anatomical and aesthetic assessment. Waddington, drawing from his own extensive experience in the koi trade, aimed to provide a practical manual that remained accessible to hobbyists while maintaining the technical rigor expected by serious breeders. Upon its release, it was well-received within the specialist community as a reliable reference, helping to standardize judging criteria and care practices for collectors and show participants alike.
