Koisuru Shikabane

Koisuru Shikabane is a manga volume written and illustrated by the artist known as Koushi. The work emerged from the vibrant landscape of niche independent manga publishing, characterized by its exploration of dark, unconventional romantic themes combined with supernatural elements. The narrative centers on the aesthetic and emotional intersections of life, death, and affection, reflecting the author's distinct interest in melancholic yet surreal storytelling.

The design of the volume reflects a minimalist approach typical of late-period independent Japanese graphic novels, prioritizing atmospheric impact over complex ornamentation. Upon its release, the work was received primarily within enthusiast circles as a cult curiosity. Critics noted Koushi's deliberate pacing and stark line work, which served to emphasize the unsettling nature of the protagonists' circumstances, solidifying its status as a notable example of genre-bending seinen-adjacent fiction.
