It belongs to a niche of dark, suspense-oriented storytelling that explores the intersection of everyday urban life and unsettling criminal undercurrents. The work is designed to evoke a sense of creeping dread, utilizing stark black-and-white linework to emphasize the tension between the mundane setting and the disturbing psychological profiles of its characters.
The series is noted for its exploration of thematic obsession and the fragile boundaries of human morality. Iguchi Kon's approach focuses heavily on atmosphere and psychological pacing, intentionally subverting traditional thriller tropes to keep the reader off-balance.
