Where it came from
Kouri no Seijo wa Ichizu na Kishi no Netsujou wo Mada Shiranai, written by Mikishiro Tatsumi, belongs to the popular Japanese light novel genre often characterized by romantic fantasy tropes. It originated within the thriving web-novel ecosystem before being adapted into a serialized light novel format, typical of the broader market for fantasy romance centered on royal settings and stoic, devoted protagonists.
The narrative follows the standard conventions of the 'Saintess' subgenre, focusing on a cold or misunderstood heroine whose stoic exterior contrasts with the intense, singular devotion of a knight. The design and aesthetic, reflective of current trends in light novel illustration, prioritize delicate, emotive character portraits that aim to bridge the gap between traditional prose and manga-style visual appeal, finding its audience among readers of romantic fantasy light novels.
