Where it came from
Kyou, Koshiba Aoi ni Aetara, written by Hazuki Takeoka, was serialized in Monthly Comic Rex starting in 2019. The narrative centers on a high school student who finds herself transported back to her teenage years, offering a contemplative look at self-reflection and the complexities of youth. It is part of a broader trend of contemporary Japanese manga exploring themes of regret and personal growth through the lens of time-slip storytelling.
The character design and visual direction are noted for their clean, expressive aesthetic, which serves to emphasize the emotional intimacy of the protagonist’s journey. Hazuki Takeoka, already established for works like Masamune-kun's Revenge, utilized this series to pivot toward a more grounded, character-driven drama. The series received praise for its pacing and its ability to balance nostalgic atmosphere with the character's evolving perspective on her own past decisions.
