Lady Cottington: Mein geheimes Elfen-Album

Lady Cottington: Mein geheimes Elfen-Album is the German language edition of Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book, a whimsical literary project released in the mid-1990s. Authored by Monty Python alum Terry Jones and illustrated by Brian Froud, the book presents itself as the discovered journal of a Victorian girl who documented her encounters with fairies by pinning them between the pages. This work emerged from the creative collaboration between Jones and Froud, who aimed to blend dry, observational humor with Froud's signature earthy, detailed fairy mythology to create a unique piece of gothic satire.

The book is widely regarded as a pinnacle of Froud’s artistic contributions to the fantasy genre, successfully juxtaposing the structured, proper Victorian world with chaotic and often inconvenienced sprite characters. Critical and public reception highlighted the book's clever dark humor and the exquisite detail of the illustrations, which managed to make a fantastical concept feel grounded in a tangible, historical context. It remains a cult classic, celebrated for its subversive take on the delicate nature of fairy lore.
