LBX Girls

LBX Girls, or Soukou Musume, originated as an ambitious multimedia project designed to reimagine the iconic plastic model kits from the Little Battlers Experience series as female anthropomorphic characters. Developed in the context of a wider push to blend traditional mecha aesthetics with character-driven narratives, the series translates the mechanical blueprints of the original LBX robots into stylized armor sets worn by the protagonists. Hiroshi Kawamoto served as a lead creative voice, helping to bridge the gap between the source material's combat-heavy roots and the new genre conventions of the franchise.

The design philosophy behind the project focused on maintaining the recognizable silhouette and color palettes of the original combat units while adapting them to a human form. By focusing on intricate mechanical details integrated with fluid character design, the creators aimed to appeal to both long-time fans of the original tactical series and newcomers to the genre. Upon release, the series received a measured reception, noted particularly for its unconventional departure from the original series' tone while maintaining a clear, direct lineage to the mechanical inspirations that defined the franchise's heritage.
