Le donne avvocate commedia inedita in tre atti dell'avvocato Antonio Sografi Far male per far bene commedia in due atti di F.A. Bon

This volume comprises two distinct theatrical works from the late 18th-century Italian stage, reflecting the vibrant tradition of comedy during a period of significant social transition. Simeone Antonio Sografi, a prolific Venetian playwright and librettist, authored 'Le donne avvocate', while the companion piece, 'Far male per far bene', is attributed to F.A. Bon. These works emerged from an era when Italian comedy was evolving from commedia dell'arte roots toward more structured, text-heavy bourgeois dramas intended for both professional performance and private reading.

The publication was issued within the cultural climate of Northern Italy, where playwrights like Sografi were celebrated for their wit and adherence to the tastes of the educated public. Sografi, in particular, was known for his dexterity in crafting dialogue that balanced moral instruction with lighthearted entertainment. These plays were designed to appeal to urban audiences who frequented public theaters, and their preservation in printed form speaks to the popularity of these scripts beyond the stage as part of the broader dissemination of Italian vernacular literature.
