Where it came from
L'Équipe des pouvoirs inutiles is a manga series created by the artist Zakame, published within the French-language market. The work fits into a niche of humorous and character-driven manga, focusing on a group of individuals who possess supernatural abilities that are ostensibly useless or absurd, serving as a subversion of traditional shonen tropes where powers are usually tactical or combat-oriented.
The series reflects a contemporary trend of independent or alternative manga creators blending Japanese stylistic influences with European sensibilities. Zakame designed the characters to emphasize the mundane frustrations of possessing eccentric quirks, rather than epic heroism. It has been noted by critics and readers as a lighthearted, observational study of failure and personality, standing out for its idiosyncratic humor and expressive, minimalist panel layout.
