Where it came from
Lilies in orange is a specialized anthology volume produced by the independent creative collective known as 约德尔comic研究所. Emerging from the vibrant digital and self-publishing landscape of contemporary East Asian comic circles, the work focuses on the subgenre of girl's love, or yuri, narratives. It was developed to curate a distinct aesthetic experience, prioritizing atmospheric storytelling and a soft, emotive visual language that departs from mainstream shonen or shojo tropes.
The design and artistic direction reflect the collective's commitment to stylized, character-driven illustration, often utilizing limited color palettes to emphasize mood. The creators aimed to craft a collection that feels intimate and personal, emphasizing quiet domestic moments over high-stakes action. Upon release, the volume was well-received within niche enthusiast communities for its technical artistic quality and the consistent, melancholy tone maintained across the various contributions.
