Livres disponibles 1995: ouvrages disponibles publiés en langue française dans le monde, la liste des éditeurs et la liste des collections de langue française

The 1995 edition of Livres disponibles, often referred to as 'Electre' in the professional sphere, was published by the Cercle de la Librairie in Paris. This exhaustive bibliographic reference served as the primary instrument for French-language booksellers, librarians, and publishers to track the availability of titles across the globe. At a time when digital cataloging was beginning to modernize the industry, this print volume represented the authoritative record of the French literary market, consolidating thousands of disparate titles into a single, comprehensive index.

The design and compilation of this work were overseen by the Cercle de la Librairie, a trade organization with a long history of supporting the French book industry. The structure was meticulously organized to provide metadata on publishers, collections, and individual works, reflecting a rigorous approach to bibliographic management. It was received as an essential tool for institutional acquisition, praised for its breadth and the utility of its cross-referenced indexes, which bridged the gap between traditional publishing houses and the evolving needs of global library sciences.
