Love Me, My Knight

Love Me, My Knight, known in Japan as Aishite Knight, was serialized by mangaka Tada Kaoru in Bessatsu Margaret between 1982 and 1984. The narrative centers on Yakko, a young woman who becomes entangled in the lives of the members of a rock band, blending elements of romance, humor, and music. It emerged during a period when shojo manga was increasingly experimenting with the intersection of pop culture and emotional storytelling.

Tada Kaoru’s design work is characterized by its expressive character dynamics and a distinct sense of fashion that reflected the early 1980s music scene. The series was well-received, leading to an anime adaptation by Toei Animation that significantly broadened its reach. Critics often note the work for its influence on the musical shojo subgenre, capturing a specific lighthearted spirit that solidified Tada's reputation within the industry before her later success with Itazura na Kiss.
