M to N no Shouzou

M to N no Shouzou, or Portrait of M to N, was serialized in LaLa magazine starting in 1999 as one of the early works by mangaka Higuchi Tachibana. The series belongs to the shoujo genre and established Tachibana’s signature style of blending romantic development with whimsical, character-driven narratives before her later, more globally recognized success with Gakuen Alice.

The story focuses on the protagonist, Miu, and her evolving relationships, utilizing the character-centric approach that defined Tachibana’s development as a creator. At the time of its release, the work was received as a charming entry in the late 90s shoujo landscape, noted for its expressive art style and the author's ability to balance comedic timing with the emotional earnestness typical of the demographic’s editorial focus during that period.
