Make Heroine o Katasetai!! (Pre-Serialization)

Make Heroine o Katasetai!! originated as a pre-serialization web manga project authored by Michiru Nakayama. The work explores the subversion of traditional romance tropes, specifically focusing on the perspective of the 'defeated heroine' in a story where the protagonist is meant to pursue a love interest who has already chosen someone else. This concept serves as a meta-commentary on the structural conventions of the harem and rom-com genres, inviting readers to engage with the emotional stakes of secondary characters who are typically sidelined by the narrative arc.

The aesthetic and narrative design by Nakayama emphasizes a comedic yet empathetic tone, balancing the frustration of romantic failure with lighthearted character interactions. The series gained early traction online through social media platforms and independent distribution channels, where its premise struck a chord with readers familiar with character archetypes. Its reception was largely characterized by appreciation for its sharp wit and the fresh angle it brought to established genre cliches, eventually paving the way for further development within the medium.
