Where it came from
Material and Methods, authored by the artist known as Pellichi, represents a distinctive entry within the contemporary independent manga and graphic novel landscape. Emerging from a creator-driven context, the volume serves as an exploration of the interplay between technical process and artistic expression, reflecting a minimalist aesthetic that prioritizes stark visual narrative over traditional dense exposition.
The design of the work is characterized by its intentional focus on the mechanical and structural aspects of storytelling, reflecting Pellichi’s interest in deconstructing the medium. Upon its release, the volume was noted by small-press enthusiasts for its unconventional pacing and high-contrast visual style, positioning it as a niche yet intellectually stimulating contribution to modern experimental manga.
