MeruPuri: Märchen ☆ Prince

MeruPuri: Märchen ☆ Prince was created by mangaka Matsuri Hino and serialized in LaLa magazine between 2002 and 2004. The series emerged during a prolific period for Hino, who sought to blend traditional fairy tale motifs with the contemporary shoujo manga aesthetic. The story centers on Airi, a high school girl who accidentally unleashes a prince from a mirror, reflecting Hino's interest in exploring the intersection of modern teenage life and whimsical, magical consequences.

The character design and visual style are hallmark examples of Hino’s work, characterized by elaborate, flowing hair and expressive, emotive character portraits. While the series is shorter than some of her later works, such as Vampire Knight, it was well-received by readers for its lighthearted humor and charming pacing. It remains a notable entry in Hino’s early bibliography, illustrating her transition toward the more dramatic themes that would define her later career.
