Metamorphose (TEZUKA Osamu)

Metamorphose is a collection of short stories by Osamu Tezuka, the prolific artist often regarded as the father of manga. Produced during the latter half of his career, these works reflect Tezuka's departure from the sprawling, cinematic epics he pioneered in favor of more experimental, psychological narratives. The stories within this volume delve into themes of transformation and identity, showcasing his masterful ability to blend dark human drama with his signature expressive character designs.

The design of the volume adheres to the stylistic conventions of late-period Tezuka, emphasizing fluid movement and stark contrast. In these stories, Tezuka sought to push the boundaries of the medium, often stripping away the whimsy of his earlier works to explore existential questions. Upon its publication, the collection was recognized by critics as an important example of Tezuka's versatility, proving that his artistic range extended far beyond his more commercially famous children's titles.
