Minutes Taken at the Several Annual Conferences of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States of America

The Minutes Taken at the Several Annual Conferences of the Methodist Episcopal Church represent the foundational administrative record of early American Methodism. These volumes were compiled to provide a systematic account of ministerial appointments, membership statistics, and the formal proceedings of the church's annual conferences as it expanded across the United States in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

The design of these publications reflects the utilitarian and pragmatic needs of the itinerant clergy who formed the backbone of the movement. By documenting the locations, membership totals, and changes in station for pastors, the church leadership sought to impose order and institutional continuity upon a rapidly growing religious network. These records serve today as a vital historical resource for chronicling the geographic spread of the Methodist Episcopal Church and its demographic evolution during a transformative era in American religious history.
