Miss Slimmens' boarding-house, and Miss Slimmens' window, by the author of 'A bad boy's diary'. Complete ed

Published in the late 19th century, this volume collects the episodic narratives of Miss Slimmens, a character created by Metta Victoria Fuller Victor under the pseudonym of the author of A Bad Boy's Diary. Victor was a highly prolific and commercially successful American author who played a significant role in the popularization of humorous, domestic sketches that resonated with the mass-market readership of the era.

The stories were designed to capture the domestic foibles and social observations of a boarding-house keeper, reflecting the changing urban lifestyle and the transition toward the professionalization of serial fiction. While the work gained popularity for its witty and lighthearted tone, it was primarily regarded as disposable light entertainment, common for serial publications of the period that sought to provide accessible escapism to a broad audience.
