Where it came from
Mitsuru Adachi Monogatari, published in 1993, serves as a biographical manga tribute centered on the life and career of the renowned manga artist Mitsuru Adachi. It was authored by his older brother, Tsutomu Adachi, who was also a mangaka and played a significant role in Mitsuru's early entry into the industry. The work provides a rare, intimate look at the sibling dynamic and the professional struggles they faced while navigating the competitive landscape of the Japanese manga publishing world during their formative years.
The narrative tone is reflective and grounded, focusing on the shared experiences of the Adachi brothers rather than the typical romantic sports drama Mitsuru is famous for. By illustrating their humble beginnings and the path that led Mitsuru to create legendary series like Touch and H2, the book offers a historical window into the development of a master storyteller. It remains a cherished, albeit niche, item for collectors interested in the personal history of one of the most influential figures in shonen manga.
