Mitteilungen des Vereines für Geschichte der Deutschen in Böhmen

The Mitteilungen des Vereines für Geschichte der Deutschen in Böhmen, or Communications of the Association for the History of the Germans in Bohemia, served as the primary scholarly organ for the historical society founded in 1862. Based in Prague, the association sought to document and preserve the cultural and political heritage of the German-speaking population within the Kingdom of Bohemia. The volumes were published regularly throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, acting as a bridge between professional historians and the educated public during a period of rising national consciousness.

The design and editorial direction were shaped by a collective of historians and archivists affiliated with the association. The publication focused on meticulous archival research, genealogical studies, and essays on regional development, reflecting the formal, academic aesthetic common to Central European historical journals of the era. It was highly regarded within regional historical circles for its rigor and remained a cornerstone for the study of German-Bohemian history until the association’s activities were effectively curtailed following the geopolitical shifts after the Second World War.
